Lent with Julian of Norwich #39 – Stiller Freitag

‘We are taught about our sin, and not our neighbours’, unless it is for their assistance; and God wants us to know that whatever impulse that we may have contrary to this revelation, comes from our enemy.

Julian of Norwich. Revelations of Divine Joy; Long Text, Chapter 79..

The altars are stripped bare. Today is a dark day; and yet it is good.

In Germany, the church is silent; Stiller Freitag.

Today, we remember not Christ’s sacrifice for sin of the ‘world’, but for our own.

Mine.

Not yours.
